What I Wish My Extrovert Friends Knew About Me
I’m an introvert.
And I confess, I used to think there was something seriously wrong with me because I was so different from all my extrovert friends. I was the one who wanted to leave the party early, who was happy sitting under a tree all day with a book rather than shopping in the city, who’d prefer to have a quiet picnic on an empty beach than dinner in a noisy restaurant.
What I wish my extrovert friends knew about me is this:
— I crave quiet time
— I sometimes become overwhelmed in crowds and noise
— I’m not stuck-up, I’m not cold, I do care
— I just need time to work things out in my head, so if I don’t respond to you right away, even for a day or two, I’m not ignoring you!
— If you push too hard, I will likely shut down
— I sometimes become overwhelmed with constant conversation and rapidly switching topics
